Auschwitz was the biggest extermination camp in Poland that operated from 1940-1945. It consisted of three main camps listed below:
Auschwitz IAuschwitz I, or Stammlager, was the main camp of the three. It started on May 26th, 1940.

Auschwitz IIAuschwitz II, or Birkenau, was where they assigned Mengele to work. It started on October 8th, 1941.

Auschwitz IIIAuschwitz III, or Monowitz, is the final of the three camps. It started on May 31st, 1942.
